LandlordRentals
Getting started

Add your first property and unit

Create a rental property, identify its province, and manage rentable units.

1 min readLast reviewed:

Intended outcome

Create an active property with the correct address and unit structure.

Prerequisites

Have an active plan, the Canadian address, property type, and rentable unit names.

Steps

  1. Open Properties and units and select Add property.
  2. Enter a recognizable name, type, address, province or territory, and postal code.
  3. Save the property.
  4. For a multi-unit property, open Property actions, choose Manage units, and add each unit with a distinct name.

Expected result

The property appears in lease, expense, and report selectors. Multi-unit properties show a Multi-unit badge.

Common problems

  • A billing plan is required when Add property is disabled.
  • Archived properties do not appear in active selectors.
  • Correct the address before preparing a lease if the province is wrong.

Product boundaries

The address selects product workflows. See Canada support for capability; Help Centre text is not a statement of provincial law.
